QuickBooks Online is an accounting software package that is geared mainly toward small and medium-sized businesses for the processing of accounting information, paying bills, generating sales invoices, preparing reconciliations, and running reports to manage the financial aspect of the business. This QuickBooks Online test evaluates candidates’ ability to use the software in four key areas: set up a company and maintain lists such as the Chart of Accounts, customers, and suppliers; process sales transactions, set up products and services, and process customer payments and refunds; process supplier purchases and expenses, bill payments, and refunds; and set up the banking function and prepare bank reconciliations and other accounting functions such as processing journal entries and running reports as required by the core functions. Candidates who perform well on this test have a strong grasp of QuickBooks Online and possess practical experience using the software. They have a good understanding of how to navigate the system and process accounting transactions, know which reports to run for a core business function, and can prepare reconciliations to ensure the company’s financial data is accurate. This test does not cover taxes in QuickBooks Online, as that process and requirements are different from country to country.

Any tool can have functions—bells and whistles. Not every tool comes armed with staff passionate about making the user experience positive.
The TestGorilla team only offers useful insights to user challenges, they engage in conversation.
For instance, I recently asked a question about a Python test I intended to implement. Instead of receiving “oh, that test would work perfectly for your solution,” or, “at this time we’re thinking about implementing a solution that may or may not…” I received a direct and straightforward answer with additional thoughts to help shape the solution.
I hope that TestGorilla realizes the value proposition in their work is not only the platform but the type of support that’s provided.

Working in accounting or bookkeeping in today’s world requires at least a rudimentary understanding of QuickBooks. As one of the most flexible and customizable accounting software packages (there are six different versions of QuickBooks depending on your business needs), QuickBooks has arguably become the most popular tool on the market for small businesses and enterprises alike.
QuickBooks is a powerful piece of software that enables you to perform bookkeeping processes and bank reconciliations, track business expenses, create reports, develop estimates and quotes, and much more.Given its wide range of uses, you’ll need to make sure that you hire candidates who can use it effectively.
Aside from streamlining your hiring processes, using a QuickBooks proficiency test to evaluate candidates’ QuickBooks skills helps you avoid mis-hires and costly recruiting mistakes by identifying the best candidates for your open role.
Let’s dive into the benefits of using a QuickBooks assessment test for recruiting and how exactly you can test candidates’ QuickBooks skills.
A pre-employment QuickBooks assessment helps you evaluate candidates on various skills needed to use the software to its full potential and help your business thrive.
Candidates skilled in QuickBooks can create reports and invoices, file taxes, and manage sales, inventory, and expenses. The only way you can be sure that candidates understand the various functions and features that enable these processes is by assigning them a QuickBooks assessment test.
As well as the ability to evaluate each candidate’s capabilities, a QuickBooks skills test also helps you eliminate the biases inherent in traditional hiring processes. Shifting to a skills-based hiring mindset is a priority for organizations today, and online QuickBooks tests play a huge role in adopting fairer and more transparent methods of shortlisting accounting and bookkeeping candidates.
Finally, QuickBooks assessment tests also help you quickly identify the best candidates for your vacancy by eliminating slow resume screening that can cause disruptive hiring bottlenecks.Which roles can you use the QuickBooks test for?Various roles require extensive QuickBooks skills. Our test will help you identify candidates with the QuickBooks skills your organization requires for any of these positions:
• Bookkeepers• Accountants• Financial clerks• Auditing clerks• Financial managers• Business administrators• Clerical administrators
Every business, no matter how big or small, needs an accounting function. And, since QuickBooks dominates the accounting software market for small and medium-sized enterprises, QuickBooks skills are now deemed essential for many modern accounting-focused roles.
Ensuring that you hire a candidate who genuinely possesses the necessary QuickBooks skills should form a central part of your recruitment process.
Hiring managers are used to receiving hundreds of resumes with a near-identical list of skills, backgrounds, and experience. Rather than sorting through a pile of resumes, a pre-employment QuickBooks test helps you whittle down your candidate pool and leaves you with only the most suitable candidates, at which point you can move on to the interview stages.
Candidates who perform well on the QuickBooks test questions have a strong understanding of the software and how it’s used to help successfully manage a business’s accounting function.
In addition to testing candidates’ QuickBooks skills, you should also use additional tests to gain a balanced view of each candidate’s profile and abilities.
While technical abilities are crucial, other skills are also necessary for bookkeepers, accountants, and other finance-focused positions. These include a high level of attention to detail, numerical skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with data.
By building a comprehensive assessment that covers QuickBooks skills and other relevant capabilities and soft skills, you can gain more comprehensive insights into each candidate and assess them based on a thorough evaluation of their wider skill set.
To ensure your candidates are evaluated accurately, the content and questions within TestGorilla’s QuickBooks assessment test are created by a subject-matter expert, with extensive peer-review by a second expert. The QuickBooks test questions are calibrated using hundreds of test-takers with experience using the software.
Candidates are allowed 10 minutes to answer a selection of technical questions that evaluate how well they can navigate the QuickBooks system, maintain company lists, process transactions, generate reports, and prepare reconciliations.
TestGorilla’s QuickBooks assessment test evaluates skills in four key areas, including a candidate’s ability to:
• Set up a company and maintain lists, including the Chart of Accounts, customers, and suppliers • Process sales transactions, set up products and services, and process customer payments and refunds • Set up the banking function and prepare bank reconciliations and other accounting functions including processing journal entries and running reports • Process supplier purchases and expenses, bill payments, and refunds
(Note: This particular QuickBooks online test does not cover taxes in QuickBooks since the processes and requirements are different in each country.)
When all your candidates have finished the QuickBooks test, you’ll be able to compare their results side by side with an overview that ranks candidates from high to low based on the average of their percentage scores.
Without a QuickBooks assessment test, you can’t always be sure that the skills listed on a candidate’s resume reflect their true abilities.
Not only does pre-employment testing help you identify the top candidates for your open positions, but it also helps you avoid costly mis-hires by identifying candidates who don’t make the cut and enables you to streamline your hiring process.
Additionally, by using TestGorilla’s QuickBooks test in conjunction with other skills tests, you’re able to glean rich, unbiased insights into each candidate to help you make better hiring decisions.
